To meet this need are many sites that offer free storage of images and the ability to share to anyone on the network. In this post I want to recommend 5 of the best sites for this work:
- Picasaweb : Service owned by Google. Picasa Web Albums provides 1 gigabyte of free storage, enough for 4,000 wallpaper-sized photos. Its main advantage is that after that Google bought Picnik offers the ability to edit our images stored in Picasa albums directly with this online editor.
- Flickr : Flickr is without doubt one of the most known tools used to share pictures and videos online, is owned by Yahoo!. It has a free version and another payment. Currently, subscribers Free accounts can upload 2 videos and 100 MB of photos per month, while subscribers have pro account storage space and unlimited bandwidth. Flickr recently added a new feature, it is possible to label (tag) to each person in the photographs that are included in the website. It is very similar to what we can do with Facebook with pictures of friends and contacts.
- Photobucket : Photobucket is a website that receive images, video, slideshows and photos. Photobucket has several limitations: Offers 1 GB of free storage (10 GB with a paid account) free monthly bandwidth of 25 GB (100GB but were decreased to 25GB in July 2008). The uploaded photos must be smaller than 1 MB (5 MB with paid account), uploaded videos should last 5 minutes or less (with 10 minutes, in case it has a paid account).
- Imageshack : You can upload images in JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, BMP and SWF, and moreover, must not exceed 1.5 megabytes. The images in BMP or TIFF files will be automatically converted to PNG. Once the image is uploaded, the user is redirected to a page that contains different versions of URLs to the uploaded image. These are pre-formatted in HTML or BBCode, allowing easy use for linking to websites or online discussion forums, pasting the URL of the desired text in the body of a message. Images are almacenedas on ImageShack indefinitely, unless the user fails to comply with the Terms of Service. Similarly, the image will not be accessible if you use more than 300 Megabytes in a period of one hour.
- Tinypic : TinyPic is a service for sharing images and videos property of Photobucket.com that allows users to upload, link and share images and videos over the Internet. Each uploaded image or video is assigned a small ("tiny" in English) Internet address. No registration is required prior to use Tinypic.
